Money saving may not be as difficult as it seems. Here are 10 easy steps you can take to start saving money without altering your way of life.
- Switch out incandescent bulbs for compact fluorescent (CFL) bulbs. CFL bulbs use 80% less energy than fluorescent lamps though producing the same amount of light. To ensure quality conformity, only purchase bulbs and lamps with the Energy Star designation.
- When going food shopping, make a list and keep to it! Anything that isn’t on the list isn’t a “need,” but just a “want,” so don’t empty your wallet on frivolous purchases. Purchase non-perishable goods in bulk to take advantage of bulk discounts.
- When discounts are available, use them. Clip and sort shopping coupons if you’ve got the energy and time. When both coupons are used in one shopping drive, the money saving will be as much as $20 to $30. Online shopping and dining coupons can be obtained and printed at home. This will save you at about 50% off the full price of the coupons.
- Purchase online wherever possible. Online retailers pass on money saving from warehousing and rental costs to the online customer, allowing them to afford up to 70% off of the rack price. When shopping online, search for the item first, followed by the phrase “discount code.” This can result in additional savings on the item you wish to buy. Consider online bidding as well: they sell at least 75% off the initial selling price on almost fresh (slightly used!) pieces.
- Bring your lunch to work. Purchase soda and potato chips from the grocery store, then prepare homemade sandwiches and place them in a brown bag.
- Make as many homemade meals as possible. Plan meals that are realistic and simple to prepare in order to inspire people to eat at the house. Money saving by never eating out on special days.
- Use common pantry products to care for your body and skin. Cucumbers, baking soda, milk, salt, ginger, and sugar are several household ingredients that can be used to care for your face.
- Avoid shopping as a means of de-stressing. Instead, go for a stroll in the park or watch a movie.
- Before going to the movies, bring your own snacks and sodas. Snacks and Sodas are at least 25% more expensive in movie theatres. Also, homemade popcorn tastes a lot better and then you can add quite so much salt as well as butter as you want!
- Stop finance costs by paying off your credit card balances per month. Best still, use cash wherever possible unless using plastic would get you a better price (0 percent, cash rebates, or interest on appliance purchases).
